CLAY AIKEN: CHRISTMAS FAIRY
After his gay scandal and the dismal reaction to his overly wrought love songs covers CD, Clay Aiken is playing Christmas Fairy this year by giving us a gift destined to be as maligned as the infamous fruitcake is.
In an attempt to wring every last red cent from his polyester pant wearing fans and just in time for the holiday season, RCA is distributing a new 4 song Aiken Christmas EP, ironically titled 'All Is Well' exclusively in that retail bastion of all claymates, Wal-Mart. Not to stray too far away from his American Idol karaoke roots, the EP is comprised of saccharine cover songs of the sugarplum and nutcracker variety.
Industry chatter is that with this EP, RCA Records may be done with Aiken, as speculation is that the release runs out his contract.
Adding to the coal in the stocking idea of Christmas, Aiken is doing a series of holiday appearances at local symphony Christmas shows as a "guest vocalist". Ticket sales for the Aiken shows have been notably slower than usual.
