Idol Picks Top 12! Sundance & Antonella Out!
American Idol viewers have voted and the Top 12 finalists have been announced. On Thursday's show, four contestants were given their walking papers: Antonella Barba, Sabrina Sloan, Jared Cotter and Sundance Head.
Antonella Barba cried as Ryan Seacrest and the Idol crew bid her farewell. Barba was by far this season's most controversial contestant after racy photos of her hit the Internet.
The departure of Sundance Head came as a shock to judge Paula Abdul who said, "I'm speechless. This is a singing competition, and Sundance, you've been one of our finest." Seacrest questioned, "How'd this happen?" Simon Cowell reponded, "The volume was turned down." Sundance made a plea to viewers before leaving the stage: "Somebody give me a job. I need a job."
As for Sloan, Randy Jackson said, "Sabrina should be in that top 12, dawg. America got that one wrong."
Idol also announced on Thursday a charity initiative, Idol Gives Back, which will help raise awareness of the effects of poverty on children and young people in the US and Africa.
