The former American Idol contestant is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. He just spent five days in Afghanistan: "As a former teacher I recognize that spark of hope and excitement all children possess when given the opportunity to learn. Rebuilding schools, training teachers, providing essential supplies and teaching materials are just some of the advances UNICEF and its partners have made to keep that hope flourishing." It's nice to see that he's using his fame to do some good.

Claymates will get a special Christmas present this year: Clay Aiken will be appearing on the NBC daytime drama Days of our Lives as himself, PEOPLE has learned exclusively.
On the show, the American Idol phenomenon will perform "Everything I Have," a song from his new album, as part of a private concert for Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) in the local Salem club called Dune.

Simon was asked recently what he thought about Clay Aiken's admission to taking anti-depressants to help deal with the fame associated with AI. True to form, Simon did not hold back. He said, "Oh give me a break. Let me have a choice, I'm going to work in a coal mine for 14 hours a day or I'm going to be a runner-up on 'American Idol.' Give me a break, idiot."

Today clay aiken is making two stops on hollywood blvd and all the ladies are getting ready for him! first he's doing a signing an in-store signing at virgin records across the street and tonight he is appearing on Jimmy Kimmel.
The shocking news though is that his album released just last week actually knocked justin timberlake off the top spot on the billboard charts!
