It's finally a reality, Elliott Yamin fans -- Richmond's biggest American Idol candidate has an album deal.
Yamin has signed with independent Hickory Records and also inked a deal with RED Distribution, which will help promote the album along with Sony/ATV, with whom he has a publishing contract.
Yamin, who came in third in last seasons competition, moved to Los Angeles several months ago and has frequently visited Atlanta and Nashville to work with songwriters for the album, due March 20.

American Idol finalist Elliott Yamin is releasing his first single "The Storm" since the fan favorite was unexpectedly booted from the competition. This release marks Yamin's first creative effort as BOTH a vocal artist and co-writer. Before his success on American Idol, soulful crooner Elliott and his best buddy producer/co-writer Terry "Big Planz" Thompson quietly worked together in a recording studio. Elliott Yamin is the only top-five finalist on the U.S. TV hit "American Idol" not to get a record deal since the show ended, but he says he's OK with that.
As part of their agreement to participate in the show, contestants who reach the final 12 can sign with 19 Entertainment, which produces the show. Yamin did not land a deal with 19 Entertainment, but he told Entertainment Weekly he is not upset.

Former American Idol contestant Elliott Yamin helped one special fan's dream come true over the weekend.
The singer, who was the third runner-up in the most recent season, spent time backstage in Richmond, Va. during the "American Idols Live" tour with Amanda Jones, a die-hard fan who was recently diagnosed with leukemia.

The American Idol 5 finalists seem to be having great luck landing record deals with one blaring exception. Taylor Hicks, Katharine McPhee, Chris Daughtry, and Kellie Pickler have all signed deals, but third place finisher Elliott Yamin is still unsigned.
The fact that Elliott Yamin doesn’t yet have a deal makes us wonder if record industry executives have yet to learn what American Idol should be teaching them. For the most part, the record industry seems to stick with signing artists that have a certain look and fit a certain mold. ...

"American Idol" contestant Elliott Yamin almost missed U.S. President George Bush's White House meeting with the TV show's finalists, claiming he overslept.
"I had press to do this morning," Yamin said, the New York Post reported. "My sleep was interrupted, and I was trying to make up for it. The tour manager called me at the last minute (Friday) and said, 'We'll have a taxi to take you there for the photo.' And that's what I did."
